Better smart than fast

As a family business, caring for the next generation is naturally in DJMiddelkoop’s DNA.
We do not have the ambition to always lead the way, but we do want to make smart investments in sustainable innovations at the right time. We strive for a good balance between climate, customer and costs. We have named our internal sustainability program Destination Zero. A program without expiry date in which we always choose the next best sustainability option.


Electric trucks

We use our Volvo FH Electric to offer customers a CO2-neutral option when transporting air freight. The introduction of these fully electric trucks is a logical step in a process that has been going on for years. To save fuel we have been driving with LHV trucks since 2010. And we continuously train our drivers to drive more efficiently, with or without biofuel.

Energy through our roof

The 2,100 solar panels on our warehouse supply more than enough power for our current demand. We use special software to ensure optimum use of the generated energy. We look forward to more effective ways to store this energy. Our offices are already heated without gas and this will soon apply to all locations. Energy-efficient LED-light is installed everywhere. In 2013 we joined the Lean & Green program and we are well on our way to our next star.

Sustainable collaboration

Step by step, we are shaping the future of our industry. Of course, we don't do this alone. We are happy to work together to make logistics chains more sustainable, including with Schiphol Group. For example, we are part of TULIPS, a European partnership for sustainability in aviation. And with the innovative Milkrun Export project, we aim to achieve more loads with fewer trucks. Always with one clear goal in mind: an emission-free logistics partner that excels in cooperation.
